Intel Battlematrix adds desktop LLM functionality to discrete Arc GPUs

Intel unveils Arc Xe2 “Battlemage” workstation GPUs and Linux driver upgrades at Computex, advancing multi-GPU support for LLM workloads with Project Battlematrix.

Following Intel’s introduction of its second-generation discrete GPU—Intel Arc Xe2 “Battlemage”—for consumer and gaming audiences in December 2024, Intel announced the corresponding workstation GPUs at Computex, as well as enhancements to the Linux drivers and software environment, with a focus on workload orchestration for LLMs across multiple GPUs. This functionality is to be delivered later this year as part of an initiative called “Project Battlematrix”.
