Global smartwatch shipments returned to healthy growth (+5.7%) in Q4 2024 after growing only one quarter (Q2 2024) out of the past two years. The smartwatch space is beginning to mature, and consumers are reigning in discretionary spending, which is causing a lengthening replacement cycle amid macroeconomic weakness and geopolitical uncertainty. During Q4, Wear OS was again boosted by the Pixel Watch, by Samsung's Galaxy Watch 7, and by Xiaomi and OPPO embracing the operating system in recent models, further solidifying Google's second OS share position behind Apple's Watch OS despite above-average growth from Garmin's Connect IQ and Huawei's HarmonyOS.
