Consumers are pulling back on consumer electronics purchases this year due to budgetary constraints. In the tablet market, this has been compounded by a glut of tablet ownership during the COVID era. Replacement is being put off until absolutely necessary, which is hurting the fortunes of many leading tablet vendors in North America, as the market fell 26% year-over-year to 7 million units in Q2 2023. Inflation is getting into a more normal range in the region, but central banks are still cautious as many economic indicators are mixed.
