The global wearables market grew 0.2% in Q1 2025, driven by niche offerings from microvendors and growth in smartwatches, rings, and glasses despite VR and hearables declines.
A huge number of second-tier MICROVENDORS are playing a meaningful role in the global wearables market, flooding the market with new, niche, and segmented offerings. Global wearables shipments grew slightly by 0.2% in Q1 2025, after Q4 2024 marked a return to growth (+4%), preceded by eight consecutive quarters (two years) of declines driven by market saturation, macroeconomic weakness, and limited innovation. During Q1 2025, growth in smartwatches, feature watches, fitness bands, smart rings, and smartglasses slightly more than offset declines in VR and hearables. Total wearables, for this report, include smartwatches, fitness bands, smartglasses, virtual reality headsets, feature watches, advanced hearables, jewellery/apparel/shoes, and others.
