Stay informed: Fabless IC firms captured 50% of IC sales in 2024, with strong growth from NVIDIA and HiSilicon. Fabless sales are set to expand at an 11.9% CAGR through 2025, outpacing the overall IC market.
Fabless IC companies accounted for half of the total IC sales in 2024, an increase from 24% in 2010. Among the top 50 fabless companies, 32 posted revenue growth in 2024, highlighted by triple-digit growth at NVIDIA and HiSilicon. From 2010 to 2025, fabless IC sales are forecast to grow by a CAGR of 11.9%, almost twice the rate of the total worldwide IC market.
Given the long-term trend of rising land, construction, and capital equipment costs associated with building and maintaining new wafer fabs, fabless IC companies are expected to account for approximately 50%–55% of worldwide IC sales over the next five years.
