Automotive chip capacity stayed flat in 2024 as IDM output fell 3% and Foundries rose 7%. Capex dropped 6%, extending 2023’s decline.
A sampling of Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDMs) and Foundries important to the automotive industry shows wafer capacity year-over-year remained flat on average in 2024 with IDM capacity falling 3% while Foundries grew capacity by 7%. Capital expenditures for IDMs and Foundries in 2024 dropped by 6%, continuing the trend downwards from 2023.
