Microprocessor Report July 2024 Review

Several of our articles and much of the industry news revolved around Intel. Although Lunar Lake’s AI capabilities drew the headlines, one overlooked key feature has been the significant strides that Intel has made on efficiency. The new design is also dissociated from process, and TSMC manufactured both tiles; Intel is (almost) a fabless company for Lunar Lake. For Raptor Lake devices, Intel is deploying a fix for the physical degradation problem, while competitor AMD is also facing some less serious issues with its desktop chips leading to delays in shipments. The month in review also covers the other major industry news, with multiple AI tool announcements and new product launches that saw several RISC-V AI devices launched.
