The Magic Leap 2 is a pair of adjustable augmented reality googles designed to minimize pressure on the user’s eyes and nose. The Sensors of the Magic Leap 2, like in previous model, capture information from surrounding environment which are then displayed as holograms that user can interact with. Compared to the Microsoft HoloLens 2, the Magic Leap split its product into a Compute Pack and a Headset part instead of combining into one Headset.
Like in previous model, the Magic Leap 2 includes dual LCOS displays that is a sort of hybrid of an LCD and a DLP (Digital Light Processing). It uses liquid crystal chips with mirrored backing –chips are reflective as with a DLP, but they also block light as with an LCD. One of the biggest changes from its predecessor is that the Magic Leap 2 uses 120Hz dynamic segmented and global dimming technology. Compared to the Microsoft HoloLens 2, the Magic Leap 2 uses LCOS displays instead of two Projector Displays.
Comparing the Magic Leap 2 to its predecessor, the Leap 2 uses higher resolution cameras, which can also be found in the controller, a newer version of LCOS displays from OmniVision which gained plastic lenses and one glass lens and a newer version of the WiFi/BT chip, which uses Bluetooth standard 5.2.
