Meta’s Orion augmented reality (AR) glasses project, claimed to be the most advanced pair of AR glasses ever made, is the public culmination of Meta's Reality Labs Project Aria, now in its second generation. Aria's Gen 2 glasses add yet more capabilities to the platform. The video pass-through displays of the Quest Pro and Vision Pro, along with the array of external cameras, are a huge battery drain. This also makes for bulky and expensive devices. Apple’s Vision Pro weighs over 600 g and is priced at $3,499, factors that contributed to its lack of uptake. The transparent displays of true AR devices can lower weight and power consumption considerably.
