Analysis: Will Automotive RISC-V End ARM’s Dominance?
Explore RISC-V's automotive potential as Great Wall Motors launches the Zijing M100, challenging ARM’s dominance in vehicle CPUs.
In September 2024, the Chinese auto maker Great Wall Motors announced the joint development of its RISC-V automotive-grade microcontroller, the Zijing M100, with multiple partners. Zijing M100 is based on the open-source RISC-V core. This report will examine the market potential for RISC-V cores in the automotive sector, given the dominance of ARM in CPU (central processing unit) processing core IP (intellectual property) in automotive (except for some infotainment applications that use Intel x86).
