Samsung Led the First Wave of India’s Festive Season Sale in 2024, Apple Follows
India's 2024 festive smartphone sales kicked off with significant growth, according to TechInsights, with online platforms like Flipkart’s Big Billion Days and Amazon India’s Great Indian Festival driving most of the sales. While offline sales picked up during Navratri, the 11-day online surge was the primary factor in the strong year-over-year growth for this period.
Samsung led the market, driven by popular models such as the Galaxy M35, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy A14. Its strategic sponsorship of online sales events on Flipkart and Amazon boosted visibility, contributing to a substantial increase in unit sales compared to last year.
Apple surged to second place, largely due to the success of the iPhone 15. With impressive sales figures, Apple grew its market share significantly, jumping from its fourth position last year. Older models like the iPhone 13 also saw steady demand.
Oppo, Xiaomi, and Realme rounded out the top five, with strong sales from models like Oppo’s K12x and Realme’s Narzo 70 Pro. Motorola, while not in the top five, also posted strong growth with launches like the Edge 50 Fusion.
Regional sales varied, with North India experiencing lower sales due to Shradh observances, while states like West Bengal and Gujarat saw higher demand ahead of Durga Pooja.
