Global Smartphone Market Grew 8% Annually in Q2 2024
Global smartphone shipments rose 7.6% YoY to 289.6 million in Q2 2024, driven by emerging markets. Samsung led with 19% market share, followed by Apple and Xiaomi. North America and Western Europe saw declines.
Global smartphone shipments grew 7.6% YoY to 289.6 million units in Q2 2024. It maintained the recovery trajectory for three quarters in a row. The recovery was largely driven by the surging demand in emerging markets. Africa Middle East, Central Latin America, Central Eastern Europe and Asia Pacific region delivered solid results and mainly led the recovery. North America and Western Europe market continued to post the downturn track instead. In Q2 2024, Samsung topped the global smartphone market with nearly 19% share. Apple ranked in second place with 15% market share. Xiaomi, vivo, and Transsion make up the rest of the top-five list, followed by OPPO (OnePlus), Honor, Lenovo-Motorola, Realme and Huawei. Among top ten vendors, except OPPO (OnePlus), all others represent the annual growth rate.
