Start-up funding revived this quarter, but M&A activity slowed as two deals fell through. Cellular chipset supplier Qualcomm launched a new platform for flagship smartphones drawing on AI. MediaTek’s new reduced capability (RedCap) 5G platform could displace LTE as it offers a more power efficient alternative for lower data rate cellular IoT applications such as monitoring and asset tracking.
