The Vivo IQOO 12 I2220 is the first smartphone in India to have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It’s also the first device to run on a dual chip design, as the main unit is paired with a customized Supercomputing Chip Q1. This new chip is designed to boost gaming experience and allows for 144 FPS gaming. The BGA package is rather small measuring 4.3 x 3.9 mm with a die size of 3.95 x 3.6 mm manufactured by Novatek.
The Supercomputing Chip Q1 takes full advantage of the 6.78” 144 Hz AMOLED Display while gaming. The whole display/touchscreen subsystem was provided by Visionox and it weighs 27.31 grams and measures 161.02 x 73.79 mm. With that size of display and with the additional chip unit working while gaming, the IQOO 12 needs a lot of cooling. It’s equipped with a vapor chamber that measures 112.86 x 62.01 mm. The vapor chamber is made of copper with cooling fluid inside. The design of the copper plates also consists of an internal net that is placed between them. The whole thermal design also includes graphite and copper tapes as well as thermal paste on top of the stacked BGA-POP processor-RAM package.
