China's smartphone market recovery paused in Q2 2025, declining 2% YoY. This downturn stems primarily from uncertainties related to Trump's trade war against China that began in April 2025, along with the early exhaustion or temporary suspension of the national consumer 3C subsidy program in some provinces. Market concerns over the trade war have significantly eased this quarter, as smartphones remain exempt from direct tariffs and the two countries have reached a tentative agreement.

As for the subsidy scheme, the government has promised new funding, though regional uncertainties continue to persist. The market remained fiercely competitive among the top six vendors. Huawei maintained its leadership position, followed by vivo, OPPO/OnePlus, Xiaomi, Apple, and Honor in sequence. Together, these six vendors captured 96% of China's smartphone market volume this quarter.
