TechInsights-tracked global smartphone shipments (sell in) and sales (sell through) grew by 5% and 6% YoY respectively in May 2024. We noted shipments annual growth rate has slowed down from previous months. Meanwhile, sales annual growth rate has improved from low single digit in previous months. We believe strong demand from Asia Pacific and reduced inflation around the world explain the strong performance. Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi remained the three largest players by both shipments and sales. They were followed by Transsion, OPPO (including OnePlus) and Vivo.
This report tracks global smartphone monthly shipments (sell in), sales (sell through) and inventory changes by 32 of the world's largest vendors from January 2016 to May 2024. The report is a valuable tool for OEMs, component makers, software developers, operators and other stakeholders to track key OEMs inventory level and support their planning activities.
