Deep Dive Teardown of the Huawei Qingyun L540-001 Laptop

The Huawei is a laptop that features a fan-based cooling system. Between the processor and heat pipe there is a lot of thermal paste. The laptop is equipped with a cooling fan that helps to dissipate heat from the internal components, including the CPU. The fan draws in cool air from the outside and blows it over the heat sink to keep the temperature within safe limits. In addition, the Qingyun L540 has a heat pipe system that transfers heat away from the CPU and GPU to the heat sink. This helps to spread out the heat and prevent any one component from getting too hot. Two WiFi antennas with a HiSilicon module support the WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. The NFC Antenna is part of the Touchpad Board but in this device is not used. The Fingerprint sensor is part of the Power Button.
When comparing Huawei Qingyun L540 with MacBook laptops, Apple MacBooks have Power Managements from Apple and Renesas, and in Huawei Power Managements are from HiSilicon. In the Qingyun L540 SSD and WiFi/Bluetooth chip appear as separate subsystems. In MacBook Laptops these chips are soldered to the main board. In Huawei we can find flash memory from Western Digital and WiFi/Bluetooth from HiSilicon and in Apple MacBooks flash memory are usually from SK Hynix and KIOXIA. WiFi/Bluetooth in L540 is from HiSilicon and in Apple’s devices from USI. The Huawei Qingyun L540 was designed as a cheap laptop, with an efficient but cheap application processor, Quad-HD TFT 60 Hz Display, 8 GB DIMM memory, and 256 GB SSD with M.2 interface.
