The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro was launched on July 11, 2023, with a focus on gaming. It utilizes the Qualcomm SM8550-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and runs on RedmagicOS 8, based on Android 13. The device features a 120 Hz, 6.8-inch display with a resolution of 2480 x 1116. It supports 65W fast charging, facilitated by three Qualcomm chips (two SMB1396-002-02 and one SMB1399-001-03) responsible for fast charging. Additionally, the phone is equipped with a cooling fan and two capacitive gaming buttons to enhance gaming performance. The Red Magic series of smartphones includes the Red Magic 8S Pro and the Red Magic 7 Pro, a device we've previously examined. The Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro and the Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro differ in various aspects. Firstly, both the Red Magic 7 Pro and the 8S Pro are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 processor. However, it's worth noting that while the 7 Pro utilizes the first generation of this chip, the 8S Pro boasts the more advanced second generation. The operating system remains consistent across both devices, with both running on the Android-based RedmagicOS. However, the 8S Pro represents a newer generation compared to the 7 Pro. Design-wise, the Red Magic 8S Pro is slightly slimmer and lighter compared to the Red Magic 7 Pro. The Red Magic 8S Pro also offers a brighter display with a peak brightness of 1300 nits, whereas the Red Magic 7 Pro has a peak brightness of 600 nits. Both phones have similar camera setups, including a triple rear camera and a 16 MP under-display selfie camera. The RedMagic8S Pro offers Bluetooth version 5.3 compared to version 5.2 in the Red Magic 7 Pro.
