From the Windows 10 commercial refresh to historic demand due to COVID work and school restrictions, the Notebook PC installed base has grown 29% in the last four years. In this first post-pandemic year, the world grapples with economic volatility and consumers, enterprises, and educational institutions alike are spending less on notebook PCs. Beyond questions about where and how quickly the global economy recovers, the PC industry is anxiously looking for signs of how user behaviors/needs will change post-pandemic. In 2023 the notebook PC market is expected to decline -13% to 191 million unit shipments with year-on-year growth returning in the 4th quarter and strengthening in 2024. Pandemic-era refreshes are expected to start in earnest in 2024 and continue through much of the outer forecast period.
