US Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) - Premises Passed 2Q 2023

The US is enjoying a boom in FTTP deployments, driven by unmet consumer and small business needs for high-speed broadband Internet, government and private investment and competitive dynamics. Incumbent Tier-1, Tier-2, and Tier-3 telecom carriers(telcos) and cable multi-service operators(MSOs) companies, are upgrading their infrastructure and expanding their footprint, while MUOWs -- municipalities, cooperative electric utilities, overbuilders and wireless Internet service providers (WISPs)-- fill gaps in high-speed broadband coverage and offer competitive alternatives to incumbents. The goal of making at least one high-speed broadband service available to all US residential and commercial premises will extend to the end of the decade. This dataset tracks and forecasts progress toward this goal, as measured in premises passed by all providers.
