TechInsights is pleased to present the findings of the first-quarter 2023 report on The Component Price Landscape (CPL). This report provides valuable insights into the current state of the global macroeconomy and the electronics industry.
Component prices continued to decline in the first quarter of 2023; however, the lead times have remained steady at an average of 20 weeks. While this news may be encouraging for some, it is important to consider the wider economic context of this trend.
TechInsights anticipates the global macroeconomy will continue to decline in the coming months because of weaker consumer demand and higher interest rates brought about by the inflationary environment. Based on the strength of recent macroeconomic and inflation data, it is likely that central banks around the world will continue to raise interest rates.
As a result, TechInsights projects original equipment manufacturer (OEM) electronics sales will decline by 2% in 2023 compared to 2022. Additionally, integrated circuit (IC) sales will decline by about 9%. The decline in the IC market is being driven by the decline in dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) and NAND.
Overall, the first-quarter 2023 CPL report provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the electronics industry and the global macroeconomy. The insights provided in this report can help businesses make informed decisions about their future investments and operations.
