The TV operating system (OS) is emerging as a key point of differentiation for TV OS vendors with control of the TV OS becoming a major battle ground as the company that controls the TV OS gets to decide which apps are available to users, where they are located in the user interface (UI), and most importantly controls monetization through ad insertion on their respective platforms. As both the number of TV OS platforms and the role that they play in the CTV ecosystem grows, understanding their strengths and weaknesses becomes critical.
