The TXW8301 is a Wi-Fi HaLow system on chip (SoC). Wi-Fi HaLow is a long-range implementation of Wi-Fi technology based in the 750-950 MHz spectrum with low power and long range, introduced by WiFi Alliance and IEEE. While Wi-Fi offers outstanding data transfer rates, operating at 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz air interface suffers from poor propagation inside a building, limiting range. Competing long range protocols like LoRa, on the other hand, has a limited packet size and low kbps transfer rates yet is capable of reliable communications over several kilometers. Wi-Fi HaLow is expected to see increased adoption in Internet of Things (IoT) applications in smart home, industrial, agriculture, smart building, and smart city segments.
