title of page

Orange Pi—a vendor of low-cost, single-board computers (SBCs) modeled after British vendor Raspberry Pi—announced the Orange Pi Nova, a new SBC built around Chinese manufacturer Loongson’s 2K3000 SoC. The 2K3000 is intended for embedded and industrial use cases, making the product less ambitious than the desktop-focused 3A6000 analyzed by TechInsights in 2024.

The announced features of the new SoC indicate a generational improvement over the 2K2000 SoC. While LoongArch largely resembles MIPS64 Release 6, the unique ISA, novel GPU design, and reliance on SMIC for manufacturing make the Loongson SoC a wholly made-in-China product.
