Japan handset shipments increased significantly by 32% annually in Q1 2025. Apple, as usual, captured the top position for the four major local carriers, including Rakuten Mobile. Samsung's almost 10-year collaboration with Softbank helped it rise to the number two position for nine quarters. Google, Lenovo-Motorola, and Sharp took third, fourth, and fifth places, respectively, without a significant gap between them and Samsung.
