Microchip Moves into 64-bit MCU Market with RISC-V

Microchip enters the 64-bit MCU market with the PIC64 family, featuring PIC64GX “flashless” MCUs and high-end PIC64HX SoCs, both powered by SiFive RISC-V cores.

Microchip has moved into the 64-bit microcontroller (MCU) market with its new family of devices, branded PIC64. Within the PIC64 family of SoCs, Microchip has two distinct series of SoCs. The mid-range side of the PIC64 is the PIC64GX series of “flashless” MCUs, and the high-end side is served by the quite different PIC64HX series. Both series of devices integrate SiFive RISC-V cores.
