TechInsights expects the recent 50% tariff threat to the European Union (EU) to have a negligible impact on the average prices of smart home devices. Teardown analysis by TechInsights indicates a low single-digit share of consumer electronics products, including smart home devices, are manufactured in the EU. Beyond the EU tariff threat, based on Q1 2025 financial reporting from smart home companies, including ADT, Arlo, Resideo, and NRG (Vivint), it's clear that industry players are implementing measures across their supply chains to reduce their exposure to the tariffs, while working to phase in any tariff impact into the product pricing.
