Insight: The Notebook PC Market is Expected to Grow 7% in 2024

The COVID era, which defined the years between 2020 and 2023, had a significant impact on the notebook PC market which will continue to resonate through the end of the forecast period of 2029. While notebook PC shipments have declined since their height in 2021 (2023 saw a 12% decline in shipments versus 2022), we expect a larger installed base to begin a new upgrade cycle en masse in 2024, with a new peak of notebook shipments seen in 2025(236.5 million units). There is a lot to be excited about in the notebook PC market throughout the forecast period including the introduction of new AI-enabled PCs, the upgrade cycle generated by Windows 10 to 11 migration, and more serious competition by Apple and other Arm-based solutions (Qualcomm, AMD, Nvidia).
