Semiconductor Analytics Report
DRAM IC Sales Up 81% YoY the week ending March 22, 2024
Author: Louis Tran
Semiconductor sales were down 2% last week but increased 19% from this time last year. Zooming in on DRAM IC, the 13-week MA jumped 81% YoY last week. This strength not only comes from the recovery from last year’s memory glut, but it is also driven by the demand of high-end DRAM in AI data centers. Micron announced recently that their high-bandwidth memory is sold out for CY 2024, and the majority of their 2025 supply has already been allocated. TechInsights forecasts DRAM IC sales will jump 71% to $44 billion in 2024.
Retail prices of electronics gained last week, led by handsets.
