Compared to the previous generation VR headset, the Oculus Quest 2, the Meta Quest 3 features upgraded hardware components. This includes a more powerful processor for improved performance, enhanced display technology for better visual fidelity, and upgraded tracking sensors for more accurate motion tracking. The Meta Quest 3 offers improvements in comfort and ergonomics over the Oculus Quest 2. This involves a redesigned head strap system, the weight difference is negligible (522g on Quest 3 and 503g on Quest 2) is negligible, and better weight distribution for increased comfort during extended use. There are feature improvements in battery life compared to the Oculus Quest 2, allowing users to enjoy longer play sessions without recharging.
The XR2 Gen 1 was announced on December 5, 2019, but Gen 2 was announced on September 27, 2023. GPU in XR2 Gen 2 is over twice as powerful as the XR2 Gen 1, providing better visual fidelity and smoother experiences in VR applications . The XR2 Gen 2 supports Wi-Fi 6E, offering up to 5.8 Gbps bandwidth with 25% less power consumption and 80% lower latency . The newer one uses 4nm technology, while the older one uses 7nm technology.
