The iPhone 15 Pro is the flagship smartphone in the seventeenth generation of the iPhone, succeeding the iPhone 14 Pro. The seventeenth generation of phones was announced on September 12, 2023, and became available nine days later, on September 22, 2023. The model A3106 was made for Europe region. The new iPhone has three main innovations:
- USB Type-C instead of Lightning Connector. The data transfer rate over the wire has increased to 10 Gbit/s compared to 480 Mbit/s for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. To achieve such data transfer speeds, the user will have to buy a cable that supports USB 3.0, in the box the 15 Pro Max comes with an outdated USB 2.0 cable.
- The case of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is titanium, not stainless steel. Stainless steel has been used in the iPhone since the iPhone X. Titanium is much lighter than stainless steel. The iPhone 14 Pro Max weighed 240 grams, the iPhone 15 Pro Max weighs less at 221 grams.
- Periscope Telephoto Camera. The most significant change is the appearance of a new 12 MP Periscope Telephoto Camera, this is the first appearance Periscope camera in the iPhone series. Only the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a Periscope camera. The 15 Pro, 15 Plus, and 15 don’t have this camera. Comparison with the camera in Samsung S23 Ultra – focal length 120 mm (230 mm – Samsung), sensor size 1/3.06” (1/3.52” – Samsung), aperture size f/2.8 (Samsung – f/4.9), pixel size the same (1.12μm), optical zoom 5x (Samsung – 10x) and two cameras have optical stabilization, but the iPhone has 3D stabilization.
