Analysis: The word “AI” Is Just What Notebook PCs Needed
The notebook PC market has seen stagnant demand, with longer refresh cycles and limited AI impact. However, Microsoft’s Copilot and Copilot Pro, powered by AI, could reignite growth and shift focus back to notebook PCs.
The demand for notebook PCs has been stagnant for the past few years. Unlike smartphones or data center servers, where AI has driven sales, notebook PCs have been hiding from the limelight (Table 1). The refresh cycles of the PCs have gotten longer, and the AI applications have had limited traction. The announcement of Copilot and Copilot Pro from Microsoft which relies heavily on AI has brought attention to AI and that might just give the notebook PC market what it needs to drive the growth.
