Upgrading transportation systems in cities like Los Angeles, especially shared mobility at the curb, is critical to their success. For Los Angeles, this undertaking is especially urgent as the city prepares to host three major events: the World Cup in 2026, the Superbowl in 2027, and the Summer Olympic Games in 2028. The recent Curbivore conference in Los Angeles outlined many of the cities’ initiatives to re-envision curb space and serve more commuters and visitors. These efforts include adding protected bike and bus-only lanes; transforming bus shelters into “mobility hubs”; supporting more public EV charging; and allowing limited commercial robotaxi service.
