Company Profiles: IDM and Foundry Sales, Capacity, and Capex - added UMC and SMIC
Discover 2023's 9% average wafer capacity growth in the automotive sector.
A sampling of Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDMs) and Foundries important to the automotive industry shows wafer capacity expanded by 9% on average in 2023 after large capital expenditures for fabs since 2020. Several IDMs increased fab capacities in 2023 well above 9% include Samsung, Texas Instruments, Rohm, Infineon, and Microchip. There were large percent decreases in capital expenditures in 2023 for several IDMs and Foundries including Renesas, Kioxia, UMC, Micron, Global Foundries, Microchip, NXP, TSMC, and Nexperia. The fall in capital expenditures were tempered by percent increases in 2023 at Texas Instruments, onsemi, Rohm, Analog Devices, Infineon, STMicroelectronics, and SMIC. This interim update adds UMC and SMIC to the data.
